Best Pregnancy Pillow for Stomach Sleepers

In today’s post, we detail our findings on the best pregnancy pillow for stomach sleepers.

First of all, if you are reading this, we assume that a nice, hearty “Congratulations!” is in order.

Sleeping on your stomach while pregnant is not really a great idea…

Sleeping on your Side

We hate to break it to you, stomach sleepers, but if you’re 5-20 weeks pregnant (sometime between the 1st and 2nd trimesters), pregnancy requires you to sleep on your side, especially as your belly grows (albeit only for 9 months).

However, don’t worry!

We gave extra points to pillows made specifically for stomach-sleeping moms. This way, we hope the pillows we recommended will greatly assist your gradual transition into a side sleeper.

What do these pillows aim to solve?

Currently, most women cope with sleeping during their maternity months by having 1 pillow supporting the back, 1 under the stomach, 1 between the breasts, 1 between the knees, and up to 3 under their heads.

If that doesn’t sound annoying enough, imagine getting up 3-5+ times during the night to go to the bathroom, and then re-adjusting every single pillow so that it is comfortable again.

If you’re tired of having 20 different pillows surrounding you to the point that you develop sciatica, then keep on reading for our top recommendation(s).

Size Guide

As a rule of thumb, if you are 5’7” (170 cm), your ideal size is the 60 inch pillow:

#1. QUEEN ROSE: U Shaped Pregnancy Pillow

See it on Amazon

The Queen Rose is the Number One bestseller on Amazon, out of all the maternity pillows out there, and for good reason.

  • Very positive feedback from women, with the large majority of them saying they got the full 8 hours sleep they needed, as opposed to five hours of tossing and turning.
  • This pillow aims to replace all the other supplementary pillows that you may be using (for knees, back pain, neck pain, etc) as well.

Size Guide

The pillow should not be as tall as you. For reference, women that are 5’7” (170 cm), should be using the 61 inch one.

There are three different sizes: 55 inch (4 ft. 7 in) (140 cm), 61 inch (5 ft. 1 in) (155 cm), and 65 inch (5 ft. 5 in) (165 cm), with the 61 inch one being the most popular.

Versus The Snoogle:

This Queen Rose Pregnancy Pillow also takes shots at the “World-Renowned” Snoogle, with customers saying that the Snoogle is, at times, too soft and fluffy, while the Queen Rose one has the right amount of firmness / not as dense.

Positives

  • Soft, but not too soft that you’re sinking into it
  • Comfortable for stomach sleepers
  • Support on both the left and right sides: very easy/comfortable to either stay in one position, or roll around while retaining support on both sides
  • Price is on the “meaty part of the bell curve”
  • Prevents inadvertent turning over onto your back
  • Relieves back pain
  • The company did not skimp out on the filling: The pillow weighs 7 pounds, which is equivalent to a slightly larger coffee maker
  • Does not lose its shape easily due to the amount of stuffing
  • Washable pillow case
  • Great for reading in bed
  • No weird smell

As with all our products, ComparableGoods always details the cons as well as the pros. There is no such product that has no negatives. If you see a product somewhere else that has no cons, the “salesmen” are lying to you.

Negatives

  • Ease of putting the pillowcase back onto the pillow

This one is pretty contentious, as some people say it’s easy and some people say it’s difficult. Therefore, this will largely depend on individual preference. Honestly speaking, if it annoys you, just tell your husband to do it for you (haha)  😎

When cleaning the pillow cover, some have complained that the sheer size of the pillow has made it time consuming to put the pillowcase back onto the Queen Rose. However, compared to some of the other pregnancy pillows out there, this cover is relatively easy to remove and clean.

  • Not an ideally sized pillow to travel with, due to both size and weight

#2. Today’s Mom: Cozy Comfort Pregnancy Pillow

See it on Amazon

One Size: 56 inches (4 ft 8 inches) (142 cm)

Positives

  • Support on both left and right sides, as well as on the back and stomach
  • Relieves pressure from the hip area
  • Do not need to move the pillow if you roll around at night
  • Great for stomach sleepers
  • Comfortable, with the right amount of firmness + softness

Negatives

  • The cover is made out of polyester, and therefore may be a bit scratchy for the face area. However, this can be fixed easily by laying silk pillowcases on top of it (cheaper silk pillowcase option)
  • Filled with fiber as opposed to down, which may result in a warmer pillow. This is actually a positive if you are prone to cold
  • Some have complained about the “painful” seam on the inside top of the pillow:

This is up for debate, as some women have also strongly asserted that they have not found anything that could possibly harm them…

#3. Leachco: Snoogle Total Body Pregnancy Pillow

See it on Amazon

There are three versions of the Snoogle:

This pregnancy pillow is another large pillow that aims to replace a pile of pillows inserted between your legs, back, hips, etc.

It offers equal or better support, and does not require adjustment between mid-sleep bathroom breaks.

One size: 60 inches (5 ft) (152 cm)

Positives

  • Perfect for stomach or back sleepers
  • Much easier to flip vs. rearranging a ton of pillows every time you change positions
  • Can serve as a breastfeeding pillow as well
  • Great neck support – you should not need an additional head pillow
  • The pillowcase jersey cover is washable and can withstand regular (weekly) washings

Negatives

  • May need to be re-fluffed after prolonged use
  • Pillow cover that it comes with may be scratch / itchy to some women. Consider using this Chic Jersey Cover (100% cotton) instead
  • Quality may not be up to par as some feel like they deserved

#4. Meiz: Full Body Pregnancy Pillow

Sizes

Positives

  • Arms of the pillow can be rearranged to your heart’s desire, from alleviating a plethora of back/shoulder/hip pains to breastfeeding your newborn
  • Great quality
  • Helps relieve sciatica
  • Shape of the pillow holds up well, without the need to constantly fluff the pillow either

Negatives

  • Pillowcase may shrink after washing
  • Limited customizable options; only available in one color and one type of material
  • When pulling the cover off, make sure you are careful as the inner stuffing may start to fall apart

  • Less expensive than the other maternity pillows
  • Perfect length for women that are 5’7’’ (170 cm), even though the size is 60 inches (5 ft) (152 cm)

  • The bends of the pillow may feel flimsy
  • Could be more generous with the amount of stuffing
